01What the product is

Aloe Yami Balm is a cosmetic product: a barrier balm in a 50 ml jar whose purpose is to moisturise and protect the skin. Its ingredients are petroleum jelly, aloe vera extract and vitamin E extract.

It has not been registered, evaluated or approved as a medicine by the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) or any other body, because it is not a medicine and is not sold as one.

02What it is for

It is for everyday external skincare — helping dry, rough or exposed skin on the face, body and scalp feel moisturised, softer and more comfortable, and helping the skin hold on to its own moisture. A little goes a long way.

It is not a treatment for eczema, psoriasis, acne, wounds, burns, infections, hair loss or any other medical condition, and it should not be described or relied on as one.

03Approved and prohibited language

Aloe Yami Balm may be described in cosmetic terms only. This applies to the label, this website, any advertising, and anything a reseller says or writes about it.

You may say (cosmetic claims)

  • Moisturises, hydrates the surface of the skin, helps prevent moisture loss
  • Softens, smooths, conditions, nourishes, comforts
  • Soothes the feel of dry or wind-exposed skin
  • Forms a protective barrier layer; helps shield skin from the elements
  • Leaves skin feeling supple; helps rough areas feel less tight
  • Suitable for face, body and scalp; a little covers a lot

You may not say (medical / therapeutic claims)

  • Cures, treats, heals, fixes, repairs, or prevents any disease, condition or injury
  • Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, analgesic, “medicated”
  • Clears or treats eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, acne, rashes, ringworm, wounds, burns, scars, stretch marks
  • Regrows hair, stops hair loss, treats a scalp condition
  • “Clinically proven”, “dermatologist approved”, or any efficacy claim we cannot substantiate
  • Safe to swallow, or any internal use

If you are unsure whether a phrase is allowed, ask us before you use it. When in doubt, describe how the balm feels and what it is for, not what it “does” to a condition.

04Using it safely

Straight from the label:

  • For external use only. Not for consumption.
  • Avoid direct contact with the eyes.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not apply to broken, blistered, sunburnt or infected skin.
  • If any irritation, redness or discomfort occurs, stop using it. If it does not settle, see a healthcare professional.
  • Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sun.

Patch test first. Before the first use, apply a small amount to the inside of the forearm and wait 24 hours. Do not use it if you react.

05Sensitive skin, pregnancy and existing conditions

Everyone’s skin is different. Check the ingredient list if you have a known allergy or sensitivity to petroleum jelly, aloe vera or vitamin E.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or you have a skin condition or are under the care of a doctor or dermatologist, speak to them before using a new product on your skin.

06Results and testimonials

How skin responds to a moisturiser varies from person to person, with the weather, and with how it is used. Any before-and-after photos, reviews or comments shared by customers are their own experience and personal opinion. They are not a promise of the same result for you and are not a substitute for the guidance of a healthcare professional.

07If you resell Aloe Yami

When you sell the balm you are responsible for what you say about it. You must keep to the cosmetic language in section 03, in person and in writing — WhatsApp statuses, social posts, marketplace listings, printed price lists, everything.

Do not add health claims, do not rename or relabel the product, and do not present it as a medicine or as something a doctor recommends. Making prohibited claims is a breach of the Terms & Conditions and the Aloe Yami Army terms, and we may decline to supply you again. You indemnify Aloe Yami against claims that arise from statements you made that go beyond the label and this disclaimer.

08Not medical advice

Nothing on this website, in the portal, or in any Aloe Yami material is medical advice. If you have a skin or health concern, please see a pharmacist, doctor or dermatologist. Do not delay seeking care, or stop a treatment a professional has given you, because of anything said about this balm.
